MITOS PROFESI HAKIM DALAM DRAMA KOREA “THE DEVIL JUDGE”

Abstract

Drama Korea telah menjadi bagian dari rutinitas kehidupan global. Salah satu tren terbaru yang semakin populer
adalah drama bertema hukum yang menggambarkan profesi hakim. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi
jenis-jenis tanda yang digunakan sebagai representasi simbolis serta memahami makna denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos
dalam drama Korea The Devil Judge. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif
dan menerapkan teori semiotika Roland Barthes. Drama ini mencakup lapisan-lapisan simbolisme yang
menggambarkan mitos seputar profesi hakim, termasuk karakteristik, tanggung jawab, dan peran mereka dalam
masyarakat, mencakup ekspektasi sosial, citra yang terbentuk, serta ekspektasi moral dan etis yang melekat. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simbol-simbol seperti media, ruang kerja, jubah hakim, palu hakim, timbangan, buku,
rumah, hakim perempuan, ruang sidang, jaksa dan hakim, hakim yang adil, makanan, dan sumpah hakim memainkan
peran penting dalam mewakili profesi hakim. Selain itu, mitos yang digambarkan dalam drama ini menggambarkan
hakim sebagai individu yang memiliki kekuasaan dan otoritas, bertanggung jawab atas kesejahteraan sosial, figur
yang dihormati dan mulia, pemimpin bijaksana dalam penegakan hukum, mediator dalam konflik, penjaga keadilan
sosial, dan pengambil keputusan. Simbol-simbol dan mitos ini memperkuat pesan dalam drama Korea The Devil
Judge mengenai profesi hakim, sehingga mempengaruhi persepsi publik.

Korean dramas have become a global life routine. One of the recent trends gaining popularity is legal-themed dramas
that portray the profession of judges. This study aims to identify the types of signs used as symbolic representations
and to understand the meanings of denotation, connotation, as well as myths in the Korean drama The Devil Judge.
This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach and utilizes Roland Barthes' semiotics theory.
The drama encompasses layers of symbolism that depict myths surrounding the profession of judges, including their
characteristics, responsibilities, and roles within society, encompassing societal expectations, formed images, as well
as inherent moral and ethical expectations. The research findings indicate that symbols such as media, workspaces,
judge's robe, judge's gavel, scales, books, homes, female judges, courtrooms, prosecutors and judges, fair judges,
food, and the judge's oath play significant roles in representing the profession of judges. Furthermore, the myths
portrayed in this drama depict judges as individuals with power and authority, responsible for ensuring social well
being, highly respected and noble figures, wise leaders in law enforcement, mediators in conflicts, guardians of social
justice, and decision-makers. These symbols and myths strengthen the message within the Korean drama The Devil
Judge regarding the profession of judges, consequently influencing public perceptions.
