This study aims to explain how the strategic role of the United States through
its alliance with Japan in maintaining the stability of the East Asia Region. The
method used is qualitative research. For the purposes of this study the author
uses Constructivism Theory and the concept of Alliance, related to how Japan
increases its alliance with the US in dealing with China in East Asia because of
the values that influence it. The changing economic and political constellation of
the world entering the 21st century, where the East Asia Region has grown into
a new world mandala, has prompted the importance of a study of economic and
political dynamics in the East Asia Region. The rise of China as a new world
power after the Cold War has been treated with great caution by both Japan and the
US. On the one hand, the rise of China as a very potential economic opportunity,
but on the other hand China is also considered a threat that can interfere with the
interests of the US and Japan. The existence of Japan is the key to the interests of
the United States, it is proven that Japan is still a reliable ally of the United States,
even though Japan itself has historically had a fairly complicated position with
surrounding countries such as China, South Korea and North Korea. Japan and the
United States continue to renew the Alliance which has become the cornerstone
of peace and security in the Asian region. There is a commitment to universal
values and general principles, including freedom, democracy, human rights, the
rule of law, international law, multilateralism, and a free and fair economic order.
The strategic alliance of Japan and the United States is intended as an effort to
advance a common vision of realizing a secure and free Region based on their
commitment to universal values and common principles, and the promotion of
inclusive economic prosperity.
