Abstract

Australia is a destination country for refugees due to being a signatory to the 1951
convention. As a developed and prosperous state, Australia is one of the favorite
destinations for refugees besides the European continent. Refugees use numerous ways
to reach Australia's territory. Therefore, Australia also takes all means to contain these
refugees. Australia's refugee containment politics has an impact on its neighboring
countries, one of which is Indonesia. This research will discuss the impact of Australia’s
refugee politics on Indonesia. A qualitative approach with descriptive purposes is used in
this research. Some of the research results are the impacts that are on the state and non
state actors either directly or indirectly.
