Focusing on Shahnon Ahmad’s novels Sampah (1974) and Tivi (1995), the research combines quantitative corpus technique such as keyword analysis, collocation mapping, and concordance inspection with qualitative semiotic interpretation to reveal how stylistic patterns encode ideological meanings of identity and moral decay in postcolonial Malaysia. Results indicate prominent lexical clusters of contamination and decay, recurrent religious-moral binaries and the media as a sign of cultural colonization. Semiotic analysis shows these patterns function as signs that both diagnose and resist the cultural consequences of modernity. The study argues that corpus stylistics, when coupled with semiotics, offers a robust model for empirically grounded yet culturally sensitive readings of postcolonial texts, enriching theoretical debates in postcolonial stylistics and digital humanities.
2026-01-19T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Dahlia Jananhttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4335Konflik Batin Tokoh Seongsam Dalam Cerita Pendek Hak Karya Hwang Sun-Won: Psikologi Sastra 2025-12-23T09:56:02+07:00Redita Devidevi.redita@gmail.comGisella Tyara Sagitasagitagisellatyara@gmail.com
2026-01-19T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Redita Devi, Gisella Tyara Sagitahttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4080“How Do I Love Thee?” and “Meeting At Night”: An Inter-Textual of The Transposition Meaning Analysis2025-04-29T10:14:19+07:00Leni Tiwiyantilenitiwiyanti@gmail.comYulia Sofianiyuliazaimar@gmail.comYosi M. The focus of the present research are on how the two texts interact with one another in terms of style, theme, and linguistic structure. The study combines qualitative and descriptive methodologies, combined with Julia Kristeva's intertextual analysis. In relation to the research's findings, the intertextual relationship between the two poems not only deepens our comprehension of each author's work but also presents the dynamics of the personal and creative relationship between them. By using intertext theory by Kristeva, researchers found that both poems use transpositions to explore various interpretations and experiences of love, reflecting the poets’ individual styles and cultural contexts. In hypogram, Barrett Browning uses linguistic structures such as anaphora, repetition, and abstract language to create a contemplative atmosphere, emphasizing love's sacred nature. Therefore, this research does not only offer fresh perspectives on how the Brownings discussed their private lives but also cultivates a creative conversation that enhanced Victorian English literature's portrayal of love. It is anticipated that this research will further our understanding of how love is socially and culturally constructed in literary works and advance the field of inter-textual research.
2026-01-19T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Leni Tiwiyantihttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4334Dekolonisasi Citra Nyai: Representasi Perempuan Dalam Sistem Kolonial Dan Feodal Hindia Belanda Pada Tokoh Nyai Ontosoroh2025-12-23T09:42:10+07:00Fairuz Fairuzfairuz@civitas.unas.ac.id
2025-12-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Fairuz Fairuzhttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4292Exploring Language Style Use in The Novel Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan2025-12-08T06:05:39+07:00Fita Khusna Lufiafitafia11@gmail.comNurhayati S.nurhayati.nhi@bsi.ac.id
Language in literary works serves not only as a tool for conveying messages and storytelling, but also as a medium of representation (a symbolic space) that shapes the identities of characters, social relations, and narrative dynamics. This research aims to analyse language styles used by the characters in Small Things Like These, a novel by Claire Keegan. The analysis is based on the five language styles proposed by Martin Joos: Frozen Style, Formal Style, Consultative Style, Casual Style, and Intimate Style. In addition, the researcher employs Janet Holmes”s theory to investigate how social factors, including participants, setting, topic, and function, influence the language styles chosen by the characters. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected by reading the novel and identifying utterances that reflect specific language styles. The researcher focused on conversations that illustrate shifts in style due to social relationships and emotional context. The findings show that all five language styles appear, with Casual Style being the most dominant (111), followed by Intimate (22), Consultative (17), Formal (11), and Frozen (4). These variations reflect the influence of social roles, emotional distance, power, and solidarity throughout the narrative, and depend on the language”s formality.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Nurhayati S., Fita Khusna Lufiahttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4330Word Formation in Tempo English Articles Following the Indonesian Military Law Amendments Passing2025-12-18T08:31:43+07:00fadilah fadilahfadilah.flh@bsi.ac.idYuni Indriyanti33210086@bsi.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the types and frequency of word formation processes found in Tempo’s national English articles following the passing of the Indonesian Military Law amendments. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method using George Yule’s (2023) theory of word formation as the main framework. The data consist of five online national news articles published by Tempo between March 20th and March 27th, 2025. The analysis reveals that six types of word formation processes appear in the articles, namely borrowing, derivation, multiple processes, compounding, conversion, and initialism. Borrowing is found to be the most dominant type with 11 data, followed by 7 data as derivation, 3 data as multiple processes, 2 data as compounding, 2 data as conversion, and 1 data as initialism. The findings show that borrowing plays a significant role as the most productive word formation process in the articles, indicating that many English words used in news media come from other languages. Moreover, the study highlights that not all word formation types consistently appear, and a few words could not be categorized into any existing morphological process. These findings underline the importance of borrowing in shaping the English vocabulary in Indonesian journalistic contexts.
2025-12-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 fadilah fadilah, Yuni Indriyantihttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4285Between Ritual and Local Tradition: A Study on The Meaning of The Rebo Wekasan Annual Event in Desa Tugu Selatan2025-12-03T06:02:38+07:00Muhammad Zendi Alfarizimuhammadzendialfarizi2022@student.unas.ac.idClarisa Ramadanti Ridho Kusumoclarisaramadanti2022@student.unas.ac.idAnissa Febryanianissfebryani2022@student.unas.ac.idsiti tuti alawiyahtuti.alawiyah@civitas.unas.ac.id
This research article aims to identify the implementation of Rebo Wekasan and explain the meaning of the Rebo Wekasan tradition for the society of Tugu Selatan Village, Cisarua District, Bogor Regency, West Java Province. The method used was qualitative. The data was collected by using interviews and Palmer's (1996) cultural semantic approach with four aspects of meaning, namely sense, feeling, tone, and intention, in the data analysis process. The informants who were involved included the society, religious leaders, and the Rebo Wekasan event committee of Desa Tugu Selatan. The results show that in terms of sense, Rebo Wekasan is interpreted as an economic innovation to support MSMEs, a symbol of gratitude and mutual cooperation, and a form of togetherness. In terms of feeling, the villagers feel happy because they can strengthen their friendship. The tone aspect is reflected in the friendly, intimate, communicative and religious atmosphere during the event. In terms of intention, this activity aims to preserve customs, strengthen relationships and solidarity, and provide cultural education for future generations. Thus, Rebo Wekasan is not only a ritual to ward off evil, but also a dynamic and adaptive local tradition.

2025-12-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Muhammad Zendi Alfarizi, Clarisa Ramadanti Ridho Kusumo, Anissa Febryani, siti tuti alawiyahhttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4261Intrusive Narratives: Mental Health and Discourse Patterns in “Turtle All The Way Down”2025-11-01T15:08:23+07:00Rika Virtiantirika.rvi@bsi.ac.idRia Yuliasariria.rys@bsi.ac.idFerdias Prihatna Sariferdias.fps@bsi.ac.id
Abstract

This study explores the linguistic representation of intrusive thoughts in the film Turtles All the Way Down, focusing on how language reflects the main character Aza Holmes’s experience of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The research aims to identify how repetition, interruption, and metaphor function as linguistic signs of anxiety and self-fragmentation. Using a qualitative descriptive method, selected dialogues and inner monologues from the film script were analyzed through James Paul Gee’s discourse analysis framework, which views language as a form of social action and identity construction. The findings show that repetition expresses Aza’s compulsive thought cycles, interruption reflects the intrusion of anxiety into social communication, and metaphor—particularly those involving bacteria, infection, and parasites—externalizes her fear and loss of control. These linguistic features reveal a constant tension between Aza’s inner discourse and her outward social interaction. The study concludes that Turtles All the Way Down portrays OCD not only as a psychological condition but also as a discursive experience, where language becomes both a symptom and a means of recovery.

Keywords: Intrusive Narrative, Mental Health, Discourse Pattern
2025-12-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Ria Yuliasari, Rika Virtianti, Ferdias Prihatna Sarihttps://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4337Proses Penamaan Gerai Kopi di Jakarta Selatan: Analisis Sintaksis2025-12-24T07:59:54+07:00Nico Harared, M.A.nico.hrd@gmail.comSyahruriyuri.syahruri@gmail.comWisnu Danureksa Pamungkaswisnudanpam@gmail.comRiyantoriyantongalimi@gmail.com

2025-12-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Nico Harared, M.A.https://journal.unas.ac.id/pujangga/article/view/4343Membaca Ulang Identitas Indonesia Melalui Persepktif Pascakolonial Dalam Para Priyayi Karya Umar Kayam Dan Cantik Itu Luka Karya Eka Kurniawan2026-01-19T13:45:58+07:00Nyoman Elly Swandayaniswandayani@gmail.com
2025-12-31T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2026 Nyoman Elly Swandayani
