Abstract

This article delves into the critical discourse surrounding the reimagining of
education in Southeast Asia through the lens of decolonization. As nations in the region
grapple with the remnants of colonial legacies embedded in their education systems, this
study explores the transformative role that decolonization plays in reshaping the
foundations of knowledge transmission. The examination encompasses various facets,
including curriculum development, pedagogical approaches, and the infusion of
indigenous perspectives. By analyzing case studies and initiatives across Southeast Asian
countries, the article seeks to highlight the challenges and opportunities inherent in the
ongoing process of decolonizing education. Furthermore, it explores the potential impact
of this paradigm shift on fostering a more inclusive and culturally relevant learning
environment, ultimately contributing to the emergence of knowledge systems that
authentically reflect the diverse identities and histories of the Southeast Asian region.
