Dalihan natolu is a cultural value of the Batak Toba tribe and is the basis of life for Batak
people wherever they are. The purpose of this study was to determine the existence of
dalihan natolu values and their implementation in the current marriage of the Batak Toba
community. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The
research location is HKBP Jitra church in Bengkulu city. Data collection using non
participant observation techniques, interviews using semi-structured techniques and
documentation. This research uses social action theory or action theory proposed by Max
Weber. The findings of this study are that the value of dalihan natolu still exists in the
HKBP Jitra congregation even though they have migrated because it has become the basis
of life of the Batak people which has been passed down from generation to generation by
their ancestors to this day. The existence of the cultural value of dalihan natolu in marriage
in the HKBP jitra congregation still exists and is carried out in every marriage in the HKBP
Jitra congregation seen from the role of the three elements of dalihan natolu in every stage
of the Batak toba marriage ceremony, namely Hula-Hula, Dongan Tubu, and Boru who
cooperate and help each other in every process of the marriage party therefore this value
must be preserved and passed down to the next Batak toba generation so that it still exists
wherever it is.
