Abstract

This study examines the Impact Driven narrative in the institutional communication of Indonesia's
Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) through its official Instagram account, @lpdp_ri, amid
public scrutiny over awardee accountability. Unlike prior research that read this phenomenon
through two frameworks at once, this study narrows and deepens the analysis through Pierre
Bourdieu's media sociology. Using a qualitative descriptive-interpretive approach with
Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis on three official Instagram posts, the study traces how
Instagram functions as an arena of meaning production, how awardees' personal stories are
converted into institutional symbolic capital, and how institutional habitus makes such
representational patterns appear natural. Findings show that LPDP consistently foregrounds
awardees from structurally marginalized regions who choose to return and contribute, while
awardees with different stories are never represented, a subtle form of symbolic power that
operates through selective representation rather than overt silencing. The study concludes that the
Impact Driven narrative functions as a meaning-production practice that sustains institutional
legitimacy through symbolic capital converted from awardees' personal experience. Future
research is recommended to include the dimension of public reception and a broader data corpus
