Vol 2 No 2 (2026): Navigating Inclusive Digital Technology Transformation: Socio-Cultural Opportunities and Challenges

The rapid acceleration of digital transformation is fundamentally reshaping how societies communicate, work, govern, and access public spaces. While emerging technologies offer unprecedented avenues for socio-economic advancement, they also present profound challenges regarding social equity, cultural adaptation, and ethical governance.

This thematic issue of the Indonesian Journal of Digital Society (IJDS), titled "Navigating Inclusive Digital Technology Transformation: Socio-Cultural Opportunities and Challenges," provides a critical platform for interdisciplinary inquiries into how technological innovations intersect with evolving social and cultural structures. The issue aims to examine how digital transitions can be steered toward inclusivity, ensuring that no segments of society are left behind by algorithmic biases, connectivity deficits, or institutional barriers.

Key Sub-themes and Areas of Inquiry:

Digital Inclusivity and the Divide: Structural inequalities in infrastructure, digital literacy, and meaningful access across diverse socio-demographic groups. Socio-Cultural Dynamics of Digital Adoption: Community resilience, cultural preservation, local resistance, and identity negotiation in an increasingly automated and platformized world. Digital Labor, Platform Economy, and Social Welfare: Changing paradigms of work, algorithmic management, and socioeconomic safety nets in digital labor ecosystems. Technology Governance, Ethics, and Rights: Policy frameworks, privacy regulation, artificial intelligence (AI) ethics, and the safeguarding of civil liberties in the digital sphere. Civic Engagement and Digital Empowerment: Grassroots innovations, inclusive public services, and participatory digital spaces that foster democratic participation and community empowerment.

By bringing together empirical investigations, conceptual critiques, and policy analyses, this publication seeks to offer actionable insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers dedicated to fostering a just, equitable, and human-centric digital society.
