Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the representation of the social class inequality in the movie Cеребряные Kоньки (Serebryanye Konki/Silver Skate). The method used in this research is the qualitative descriptive method. In order to describe the social classs inequality in the movie Cеребряные Kоньки/Silver Skate, the representation theory of Stuart Hall is used. The representation of the social class inequality in this movie is analyzed in six scenes through the use of the social stratification concept. Based on this research, it can be known that there is a social class inequality that is seen from the indicators of power, privilege, and prestige, which the upper-class group only owns. Those indicators influenced the rise of violence, discrimination, and difference in lifestyle of the lower class. The social class inequality that is represented through the movie Cеребряные Koньки/Silver Skate describes the social issues resulting from the social position of a person in social life.

 

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui representasi kesenjangan kelas sosial yang terdapat dalam film Серебряные Коньки (Serebryanye Konki/Sepatu Luncur Perak). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Untuk menggambarkan kesenjangan kelas sosial yang terdapat dalam film Серебряные Коньки/Sepatu Luncur Perak, teori yang digunakan adalah teori representasi milik Stuart Hall. Gambaran kesenjangan kelas sosial yang terdapat dalam film tersebut dianalisis melalui enam adegan melalui penggunaan konsep stratifikasi sosial. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa terdapat kesenjangan kelas sosial yang dilihat dari indikator power (kekuasaan), privilege (hak istimewa), dan prestige (nilai kehormatan) yang hanya dimiliki oleh kelompok kelas atas. Indikator tersebut berdampak pada timbulnya kekerasan, diskriminasi, dan perbedaan gaya hidup pada masyarakat kelas bawah. Kesenjangan kelas sosial yang direpresentasikan melalui film Серебряные Коньки/Sepatu Luncur Perak menggambarkan adanya permasalahan sosial yang disebabkan oleh perbedaan posisi sosial seseorang dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat.
