SYMBOLIC MEANING OF THE SONGS ACCORDING TO THE WISDOM SPIRITUALIST

At present, the Javanese people do not study kidung or Javanese songs as much as before. However, the philosophical meanings embedded in these kidung remain deeply ingrained in Javanese scholars who understand the wisdom of Javanese culture. As a result, many of these scholars who grasp the essence of Javanese traditions have begun teaching the philosophy of kidung to their students in Islamic boarding schools. This implies that only a specific group of people study the philosophical teachings contained in kidung, which convey the noble values of Javanese heritage. Therefore, it is necessary to revisit and discuss them so that a broader audience can also appreciate their significance. This research employs a qualitative method, using literature as the primary source and interviews with experts who have an in-depth understanding of kidung philosophy. It is hoped that this study will provide the general public with knowledge about the many noble values within Javanese teachings, especially as modernization increasingly erodes cultural values.
